Song: Upside Down- Jack Johnson Size:15.5*20 My inspiration for this project was mostly the memories that this song brought back for me. I listened to this song all through my childhood, normaly while going on some sort of adventure. I thought it would be fitting to do something that made me think of that. A lot of my favorite memories from when I was a kid, was when I was in the desert. To show this I decided to show the Arches monument, mostly because it was a pretty iconic desert senes. I also added a car window because a lot of the stuff I witnessed as a child was while I was on some adventure or another. For the colors I used in this painting I went with mostly reds and oranges because I was working off one specific photo. For my hidden lyrics the main way I accomplished this was my taking brown paint and putting this on really thinly. The the brown blended into the light washes of orange and red that I had added below and above to make the lyrics less noticeable. I attempted to use all warm colors in this other that the grays of the car window so everything flowed nicely and it was visually pleasing.
India ink Painting
I believe that value alters perspective in art by giving it more depth. While making my painting the only colors we had to work with were black, grey, and white. Because of this we had to make a lot of contrast in our paintings to make them realistic. I liked being able to make a black and white painting because I hadn't done much like this before. By using the value, I was able to make my painting look more refined and realistic. The constraints used in this project were: India ink, water, paint brushes, rags, a large piece of paper, and the reference photo.
